MECHANIC CLOCK: there are five well-known facts

1. The number of clock mechanisms in the world is BILLIONS. This means that for each representative of the mankind at least several clocks are available. And on our big planet, the Earth, not to mention the small glorious Switzerland, not a clock with life warranty has ever been produced.

2. THE MOST prestigious and expensive clock is a complicated mechanic one , and this is first of all a refined and fragile mechanism which consists of numerous details, interacting with each other. Unfortunately this very type of clock is very vulnerable.

3. ANY mechanic clock has a so called fault of precision of clock operation: it has to be either fast or slow. A standard fault (not for chronometers) is estimated as -20 up to +40 seconds in 24 hours. This standards are Swiss ones.

4. TWO DIFFERENT WORDS - "repair" and "restoration" are often confused. Restoration is when a clock is not only fixed it gets anew its original exterior. Producing of some missing details(antique clocks are always in need of them) is a task for a skilled expert. Not each workshop can provide with such experienced personnel, not even every hundredth of workshops. In other words, restoration is an expensive thing to afford with a view to returning your clock back to its full glamorous life style.

5. ALL OVER THE WORLD there is a multi-thousand army of producing plants and only a few dozens of celebrated individual clock-makers who create the most exclusive clocks ( starting from the draft up to a completed product). The work is aimed at those who are really keen on clockmaking. In Russia such ace is the only one now - the creator of the first Russian clock with tourbillon, a well-known master Konstantin Chaykin. He is the head of the Watch & Clock Restoration Center which has been recently opened in Saint-Petersburg..
